Why I started working on it
A transport job touches a lot of people: the customer, driver, dispatcher and sometimes a vehicle or equipment partner. It is easy for details to get lost between messages and phone calls.
What it does
I’ve been working on a platform that brings the customer’s request together with drivers, transport partners and the people coordinating each job. It includes booking, dispatch and payment areas so the work has somewhere to be followed up.
Where it is today
The PickItUp website is live. Customers can explore services and start a booking or equipment enquiry. The platform also gives the team places to manage driver and partner details and coordinate jobs. We’re still working through provider availability and payment steps before every journey is ready to run end to end.
What I’m working on next
The next work is practical: confirm which drivers and vehicles are available, connect the booking and payment services, and run real jobs through dispatch from start to finish.
How it works

The team checks the distance, price and available vehicle before confirming the job.
Assign and operate
A dispatcher can match the job with a driver and keep the customer updated as it moves along.
Reconcile
The platform keeps the job’s payment and driver earnings together so they can be checked after delivery.

How I’m involved
I’ve been working on the software and operating tools behind PickItUp.
Built for the PickItUp private transport venture. It is separate from Johannesburg’s municipal Pikitup waste service.

A React/TypeScript frontend connects to an Express API and PostgreSQL marketplace model. Server-side pricing, capacity, assignment, proof and earning records preserve operational history instead of relying on browser-only state.
